Is IncomeAtHomeUSA.com a Scam?

IncomeAtHomeUSA.com Reviews | Is IncomeAtHomeUSA.com a Scam?

IncomeatHomeUSA.com is part of a group of web sites that lead you to a single business opportunity: Herbalife, the weight management system. Let’s find out if it lives up to its claim of being a first-class home-based business system.

IncomeAtHomeUSA.com: How It Works

When you type in your contact information to request more material on the opportunity, you receive a “Success Package” that contains some literature, a CD and a DVD, with information about the product. The big drawback is that the three media have the same information repeated, and also fail to give many specifics about the business opportunity.

On receiving the package, you call your “personal coach” whose information is provided. When you sign up for the IncomeAtHomeUSA program, you will be provided Herbalife products and marketing material depending on your membership level (read: money you pay). And you’re there: a Herbalife distributor. Of course, the more people you can get “into” the system, the more money you make.

You’ve probably heard that before: Yup, it’s a multi-level marketing, or MLM system.

IncomeAtHomeUSA.com: The Positive

The Income at Home USA idea is backed by a legitimate entity, Herbalife, and that is a definite plus. Herbalife is rated an A+ business by the Better Business Bureau, so you know your money is not going to disappear down the drain. You will get value in return.

With the higher-priced package of IncomeAtHomeUSA.com (usually $399), you get some extra benefits such as a personal Web page, and round-the-clock availability of personal coaching to help you sell the product.

Some of the problems, unfortunately, arise simply because of how well-known the company is.

IncomeAtHomeUSA.com: The Negative

So, are IncomeAtHomeUSA’s claims of an easy five-figure monthly income realistic? Anyone who knows even a little about Herbalife knows how saturated the Herbalife market really is. In fact, the site clearly mentions,

“The incomes depicted on IncomeAtHomeUSA.com are representative of some of the most successful participants and the majority of individuals earn less. These figures should not be considered as guarantees or projections of your actual earnings or profits.”

Also, the fact that the IncomeatHomeUSA site does not mention the Herbalife connection up front might seem sneaky to some.

When the “Success package” costs $9.95, and when it makes its way to you, you are given the option to return it within 14 days. If that doesn’t happen, you are charged an extra $40. What that $40 is for, no one seems to know.

IncomeAtHomeUSA.com: The Bottom Line

So is Income at Home USA recommended? If you’re a sales guru, and can sell Herbalife, go for it! Remember and be warned that this is no internet marketing from home (in spite of the Web site)—this is a real sales job.

I think you may need some clarification. First, Herbalife is not a weight management system. If you would check, they have a range of products that promote a healthy lifestyle, healthy aging, and great personal care products as well. As for the market being saturated is simply not true. They are constantly growing and expanding into different countries.

That disclaimer is a legal must for any MLM or Network Marketing company that advertises, as you should know. In any home based business match, there is no guarantee that you will make money, and anyone that says there is guaranteed income is flat out lying.

Incomeathomeusa does state right on the front page – before you log in any personal information “Business Opportunity presented is an online method of operating an Herbalife International® independent distributorship.”

The $39.95 is charged for the package if not returned after two weeks as stated in the Terms and Conditions which have to be agreed to prior to being able to order it. As for the Online Business system…A website would enable you to advertise online nationally directing interested people to your personal site…how is that not internet marketing at home?

    Hi Mark,

    Thanks for sharing!

It sounds like you have good experience with IncomeAtHomeUSA.com and Herbalife…have you been a distributor or are you currently? Please share for all to benefit.

As for your statement saying that IncomeAtHomeUSA is upfront and fair in its disclosure about the fact you will be selling Herbalife and the monthly charge of $39.95, I’m going to have to disagree.

I don’t consider the grayed out fine print at the bottom of the webpage or a terms and conditions box bloated with other disclaimers a very good disclosure…just my opinion.

    Hi Darin,

Actually I have a background in Marketing and have been involved in Network Marketing and MLM businesses for 15 years. I am not personally a Herbalife Distributor or have signed through IncomeAtHome. I do, however, check out a lot of these “scam” reports on different companies and check on the validity of them. I went directly from your article and typed incomeathomeusa.com into my browser and then read the front page completely. The disclaimers at the bottom were in the same color and font as most the other writing, so I did not see the “fine print” issue you are talking about – could just be my server, but that is how I saw it.

I signed in using my email address and read what was there as well. I also read the terms and conditions (which were very short by the way) and saw right there about the two weeks. So the only surprise is that people do not read what is put before them. From everything I read, they are promoting the business aspect front and center, with mention to Herbalife and products as an affiliation. Good marketing strategy.

Speaking of good marketing strategy, you are capitalizing quiet well on their advertising by adding in blueprint at the end. I have to applaud you on that one.

    Cheers, Mark

Looks like what you and I think of what is fair disclosure and what isn’t doesn’t matter! The entire home business industry is about to change quite dramatically!

Over the next few weeks Visa and Mastercard will severing business relationships with most merchants that support business opportunity type continuity programs.

I would be very surprised if IncomeAtHomeUSA.com didn’t have to change their business model to comply.
